Westaff was founded in San
Francisco in 1948 as Western Employers Service. Over the years, the name
changed to Western Girl, and then to Western Staff Services. Western grew to
over 425 offices in the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Western changed its name to Westaff in 1998 to reflect its international reach.
Westaff offers temporary employment in Office Clerical, Accounting, Light
Industrial, Technical, and Medical. The company also has large on-site and
out-sourcing programs.
Westaff's office in Burlington, Vermont was
opened in 1990 by David W. Mount and Fran Mount. The office had been previously
operated as an independent staffing service since 1982. The company joined Westaff in 1990 because Westaff's outstanding
commitment to their employees and customers mirrored the Mounts' own strong
commitment to these values.
In 1992, the office was expanded to include Westaff Technical, offering
temporary personnel in the CAD, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Programming
fields. In 1996, the Plattsburgh office was opened
with Gary and Estella Wagoner as managers, bringing their knowledge and
experience in that market. In 1999, the Claremont
office was opened, expanding Westaff's reach to the east, and the Albany office was opened, expanding our reach to the
west.
Further covering the New Hampshire area, January 2001 saw the opening of the
Lebanon office. We brought our service and
reputation to Eastern Vermont with the opening of our St. Johnsbury office in November, 2002, extended our
service of the Connecticut Valley further with our Lancaster office, which opened in February 2005, and
branched out to Vermont's capital region with the opening of the Barre office in December 2006. Extending our coverage
into Vermont's Franklin County, the heart of maple sugar country, Westaff
acquired the St. Albans offices of PDI in June,
2007.
Westaff of the Champlain Valley also runs the WestaffNH.com and WestaffNY.com web sites, as a service to
our fellow affiliates in those states.
