CNC Specialist
Assignment Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Qualifications
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to program and debug CNC programs. Thorough knowledge of all measuring tools. Complete understanding of blueprints. Complete understanding of machine codes (i.e.: G-codes, M-Codes, etc.)

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Responsibilities
Summary: Sets up and operates a variety of CNC lathes and machining centers to fabricate parts. Responsible to train and assist other employees as needed with set-ups, quality issues, pre-setting tools, etc. Works closely with Engineering on various production issues. Responsible to ensure that goal hours and quality expectations are met. Oversees the department in the absence of the department supervisor by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Performs all duties of a CNC III Operator as required.

Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Works with other employee or individually to reduce set-up times throughout the department.

Periodically checks others' work for quality assurance.

Has in-depth knowledge of all operations of CNC equipment and conventional machine shop equipment.

Must work closely with the other CNC Specialists and employees in other departments.

Plays an important role in ensuring the safety of all employees, particularly within the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists supervisor in directing the work of 6-10 employees in the CNC. Carries out team leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommendations for hiring, and training employees; assists supervisor in planning, assigning, and directing work; ensures quality parts are made; performance appraisal input; may address complaints and resolve production problems.
